Creating the Cine-scope Look

Hey Guys

As I mentioned, me and Dan are experimenting with adding a cine-scope look to our music video. If you are not sure what that means basically its the two black bars added in movies (and also music videos) that give it a professional, cinema make-over.

This is the video that we used to learn how to apply this in Premier Pro:

Filming - Day 1

Hey Guys

So on Saturday morning me and Dan started our filming for our music video. We used the kitchen at Dan's grandparents church to film the chef character section at the beginning as our location; a place where we have previously used for a preliminary task, hence the absence of location shots. However, we are working on a 'behind the scenes' series, using the camcorder, to show what is going on as well as the filming. The first episode will contain brief location shots and will be released shortly.

Anyway, at the moment we are compiling our footage together in Adobe CC Premier Pro, experimenting with post-production features like filters as well as adding a cine-scope feel.

Also we are currently arranging when our next filming session will be.

So as always, bye for now.

Update: Getting Ready For Filming

Hey Guys

So me and Dan have got the equipment sorted; a DSLR, a camcorder, a green scree, a tripod, a gorilla pod, a 35mm lens and a light. As well as this with have an extra battery and a charger for emergence.

Also, we have some lab coats and the chef's hat sorted and at this moment need to sort out our bits of ingredients.

So, we start filming tomorrow!

Bye for now.

Update: Website and Merchandise Making

Hey Guys!

So yesterday me and Dan were finishing off creating our merchandise online. Our products consist of a few t-shirts, clothes, hats and a mug. These pictures of our products will be then uploaded to our website, which is still in process.

However, last night I was able to make some significant progress when it comes to designing the main layout of our website by applying a definite background and header with buttons and links.

In other news, me and Dan are also thinking about starting filming sometime soon and have decided to structure of shooting schedule into one session per each character we have created. For example, our first will be the chef's introduction.

And that's that for now, So, as always, stay tuned for more.

Lighting

Hey Guys

Seen as me and Dan have never properly looked into or considered lighting whilst filming, we thought that looking into it more and taking it into account it would help use effectively improve the quality of our music video.

So here's a little look into lighting!

Update: Storyboarding and Shooting

Hey Guys

So me and Dan are still working on the story boarding as the sketches take a while and we aren't trying to blow all of our ideas into the first minute of the song so are looking for inspiration.

In addition to this, we are starting to think about when (and where as we haven't been definite yet on our location) we are going to start shooting as we both think that post-production will be difficult. Also, we have staring to compile a list of equipment needed for the music video. From camera to clothes to spaghetti we're getting it all organised.

As always, be expecting more posts flying your way and by for now.

Update: Practising Slow Motion

Hey Guys

Since we decided to do a cloning test in order to see how to do it before we did it for real in our one minute music video, we thought it would be a good idea to experiment with slow motion.

Trying to get used to After Effects more

Within the process of doing our story boarding, we realised that slow motion was going to be used during a few moments of the song, mainly in the chorus, in order to focus on and exaggerate shots.

We filmed Dan in order to use as test footage. After simply altering the 'speed/duration' of the footage on Premier Pro, we noticed that this wasn't good enough as the video seem choppy. So, after consulting some YouTube tutorials, we managed to change the frames per second (fps) from 30 to 60, thus smoothening out the video.

Afterwards however, we decided to work on a copy through After Effects, in order to test our skills with this lesser used programme.

So, be expecting this test (or well tests from both Premier Pro and After Effects) uploaded soon as well as the YouTube tutorials we used to help us.

As always, see you guys later.
